Meghan Markle set for big-screen return after seven years
Meghan Markle is set to make her long-awaited return to acting after seven years in a new film titled "Close Personal Friends", alongside Lily Collins and Brie Larson, according to multiple outlets.
The Duchess of Sussex will reportedly appear as herself in a cameo role in the Amazon MGM Studios comedy, which follows two partners who befriend a famous couple during a trip to Santa Barbara, California, People reports.
"Close Personal Friends", which also stars Henry Golding and Jack Quaid, was first announced in August, with production beginning the following month in London. The film is directed by Jason Orley.
Lily Collins recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set on Instagram, posting a selfie with co-stars Brie Larson, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid, captioned, "Close (personal) friends only…"
The role marks Meghan's first screen appearance since leaving the long-running legal drama "Suits" in 2018, where she portrayed Rachel Zane for seven seasons. She exited the series to focus on her royal duties ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry that same year.
"I don't see it as giving anything up," Meghan told the BBC at the time. "I just see it as a change."
Following her departure from Hollywood, Meghan and Harry—parents to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the United States.
Although Meghan has since ventured into other creative projects, including her lifestyle brand As Ever and the Netflix series "With Love", Meghan, she previously told Variety in 2022 that she had no plans to return to acting full-time, saying, "I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not."
