Mahiya Mahi to make film comeback after maternity break
Dhallywood star Mahiya Mahi, who embraced motherhood for the first time on March 28 this year, is set to mark her return to the silver screen. Taking almost a year-long hiatus from movie sets before and after giving birth, Mahi is now geared up to resume her acting journey.
Amid the early stages of her pregnancy in October last year, Mahi featured in a song for Badiul Alam's film "Officer." Following her maternity break, the actress is expected to begin shooting for the film "Dark World", directed by Mostafizur Rahman Manik on October 10.
Director Mostafizur Rahman confirmed Mahi's return to the screen and shared, "The film's details have been finalised with Mahi, and a preliminary agreement has been reached. We are planning to hold a formal contract signing ceremony on September 11 once the producer returns to the country. Shooting will commence on October 10 and extend for 25 consecutive days, encompassing various locations in Dhaka and Bandarban."
"Dark World," centres around a gripping plot where a group betrays and blackmails the common people through the distribution of explicit content on social media platforms. The heart of the story lies in their quest for justice and redemption, making for an intense and riveting narrative that delves into the modern complexities of online deception.
Mahi will portray the role of a police officer in this film.
In her confirmation of this upcoming venture, Mahi expressed her eagerness to return to the work that she holds dear. She stated in the media, "The hiatus has been long, and I'm feeling a sense of restlessness. I'm eagerly preparing to step back into acting. Hopefully, I'll be in full form by October. My son Farish is growing up, and I'm looking forward to resuming my professional commitments."
In addition to Mahi, "Dark World" stars Moushumi, Misha Sawdagar, and newcomer Munna Khan.
