‘Ki Jeno Bhulte Cheye Chilam’ drama brings poet Helal Hafiz’s journey to life

"Ki Jeno Bhulte Cheye Chilam", a drama inspired by the life of eminent poet Helal Hafiz, has been directed by Rubel Anush and stars Jonaid Bukdadi and Tonni Mahmid Trina, portraying Helal Hafiz and his beloved Helen, respectively.
Beyond his identity as a poet, the late Helal Hafiz was also known as a passionate lover, albeit an unfortunate one. Until his final days, he carried the pain of unfulfilled love. His life is a tale that brings tears to the eyes, and now, director Rubel Anush has brought that story to the screen.
The story of the project follows young Helal Hafiz, who falls in love with a girl named Helen, his neighbor in Netrokona. However, Helen's father, a police officer, did not approve of his daughter's relationship with the son of a schoolteacher. Eventually, he arranged her marriage to the owner of a cinema hall in Dhaka. Helal Hafiz also moved to Dhaka to pursue his studies at Dhaka University.
Eventually, his only book of poetry, "Je Jole Agun Jole!", was published. Helen's husband bought a copy of the book from a book fair and gifted it to her. Upon reading the book, Helen realised that every poem reflected the poet's yearning for her.
The realisation left her emotionally shattered, and over time, she lost her sanity. Her husband eventually divorced her, and she returned to her father's home in Netrokona, where she had to be kept restrained with chains.
Helal Hafiz carried the weight of that lost love throughout his life and never married.
The story of the drama was written by Rubel Anush himself, while the screenplay and dialogues were written by Abraham Tamim.
The drama is available on Global Television's YouTube channel.
