Jyotika Jyoti to make film on female pilot instructor
Actress Jyotika Jyoti is all set to make film on Bangladesh's first female pilot instructor, Fareea Hossain Lara. The actress received a government grant of BDT 60 lakhs for the year 2022-2023, to make her first film as a producer. Jyotika Jyoti's film will be called "Lara", and will be directed by Shekhar Das. The film will be produced under her production house, Ray House.
Jyotika Jyoti told local media that the script is ready, but they are working on the research part. She might start shooting for the film by this year's end or by the beginning of next year. However, the actress refrained from stating as to who will be playing the titular character in the film.
The film will centre on Lara, who died on September 27, 1998, when a Parabat Airlines training jet crashed at Postogola in Dhaka owing to a technical malfunction, killing its pilot Lara and co-pilot Rafiqul.
Lara's mother is renowned author Selina Hossain while her father is freedom fighter Anwar Hossain. Selina Hossain wrote a book on her daughter called "Lara" in 2006, and Jyotika Jyoti has already taken written permission from Selina Hossain to make a film on her daughter.
For the next 10 years no one will be able to produce any short or full-length film, television drama, stage or any television show on Lara. Jyotika Jyoti stated that this clause in her contract was signed by Selina Hossain.
