After a hiatus, Jaya Ahsan will return to the silver screens with the film "Nakshikanthar Zamin" (A Tale of Two Sisters) this December, the month of the victory of Bangladesh.

Directed by Akram Khan, the film is a government-funded project. Its story revolves around two sisters, Rahela and Saleha, who lose everything during the Liberation War. They weave the tale of their lives into a nakshikantha (bordered fabric).

The film is an adaptation of noted author Hasan Azizul Haque's "Bidhobader Kotha" (Story of Widows).

 "The story of 'Nakshikanthar Zamin' is very powerful. Its strength lies in its narrative, which will draw the audience in. The new generation should watch this film as it offers a lot to learn about the Liberation War," says the National Award-winning actress.

She further mentions, "Before its release in Bangladesh, the film was screened at several international festivals, and has received accolades from renowned filmmakers and critics worldwide. Audiences have appreciated it as well."

In response to another question, she says, "Audiences appreciate good stories, and 'Nakshikanthar Zamin' is a film with a great story. They'll find a compelling story and exceptional craftsmanship in its making. It's one of my personal favourites."

The film won an award at the Bengaluru International Film Festival, and was also nominated for the ICFT–UNESCO Gandhi Medal at India's 53rd International Film Festival. "The recognition 'Nakshikanthar Zamin' has received abroad is a significant achievement for this film," remarks Jaya.

Apart from Jaya Ahsan, the film stars Iresh Zaker, Rawnak Hasan, Dibya Joyti, Shommo Joyti, and others.

Previously, Jaya appeared in the film "Peyarar Subash". Additionally, she is set to star in the Hoichoi original web series "Jimmi", directed by Ashfaque Nipun, marking their first collaboration. On this, she comments, "We'll start shooting very soon. You'll know the rest once filming begins."

Meanwhile, several projects featuring the veteran actress, including "OCD", await release in India. Another film, "Fereshteh", has already premiered in Iran, where it won a national award.
