General elections of Bangladesh Film Directors' Association underway
The biennial general election of the Bangladesh Film Directors' Association is underway at BFDC. Voting has already started today from 10 am and will continue till 5 pm.
This time, 388 voters will elect from two panels; Kazi Hayat-Shahin Sumon and Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar-Zakir Hossain Raju running for candidacy. Forty-one nomination forms have already been accepted for a nineteen-member committee.
Shamsul Alam, a member of the Election Committee confirmed to The Daily Star, "For the position of President, General Secretary, and nine secretarial posts, nineteen nomination forms were submitted."
"Moreover, for the ten committee membership posts, twenty-two more nomination forms were collected. Both panels running for candidacy have submitted their panel members' list to the Election Committee," adds the election committee member.
"I have some plans concerning the development of the film industry," shares Kazi Hayat. "I want to work for the development of cinemas and will be thinking about film artistes the entire time."
On the other hand, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar said, "The Government is already working for the development of the film industry. We will unite and emphasise increasing film productions. I will continuously work with this goal in mind."
