WATCH: ‘Ek Villain Returns’ trailer promises a chilling sequel

The trailer of "Ek Villain Returns", the much-awaited sequel to the 2014 psychological thriller "Ek Villain", was released recently. The film casts John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in leading roles, among others.

The trailer begins with a recap of the first installment by J D Chakravarthy, leading towards a completely new plot, with a killer on the loose who targets women who don't reciprocate their stalkers' romantic advances.

However, keeping up with the mysterious tone of the production, the trailer does not reveal the identity of the real killer, leaving behind a long list of suspects. A face-off between John and Arjun, is also seen teased in the trailer. Even the female characters in the movie seem to have a villainous presence.

Known for directing films like "Malang", "Ek Villain", "Murder 2", "Zeher", and "Kalyug", the trailer instantly indicates that the director has decided to follow his trademark narrative style for this production.

A reprised version of "Galliyan", the popular track for its first film, is also present in the production.

"Ek Villain Returns" is slated to release on July 29.
