Renowned actor Chanchal Chowdhury has slammed rumours circulating in Indian media that claim he was detained at an airport and placed under house arrest. The report, published by West Bengal-based Sangbad Pratidin, alleges that Chanchal was stopped while travelling to New York and is now under surveillance. However, the actor has called the claims "completely false," leaving fans questioning the credibility of the story.

On Wednesday, Sangbad Pratidin ran a sensational headline: "From Plane to Army Custody: Popular Bangladeshi Actor Chanchal Chowdhury Under House Arrest". The report suggests that about two weeks ago, while Chanchal was boarding a flight from Dhaka to New York via Dubai, a group of BNP leaders and military personnel boarded the plane and confronted him. They allegedly asked, "Are you fleeing the country like Hasina?" The report claimed that a shocked Chanchal clarified he was travelling for work, but was then removed from the flight and is now being kept under house arrest.

The report also alleged that with Sheikh Hasina's former government facing political turmoil, those close to her were being harassed, and Chanchal had become the latest victim in this supposed crackdown.

When asked about the rumours, Chanchal Chowdhury was quick to dismiss the claims. Speaking to Ajker Patrika, the actor said, "Nothing like this has ever happened. There is no truth in this report. It's completely fabricated. In fact, I haven't even spoken to a journalist in months. I have no idea how such a story got published."

Clearly frustrated by the false allegations, Chanchal called for greater responsibility in news reporting, urging the media to verify facts before publishing.

Chanchal, best known for his performances in "Monpura",  "Aynabaji" and "Taqdeer", continues to be a respected figure in Bangladesh's entertainment industry. Despite the spread of misinformation, the actor remains focused on his craft, dismissing the rumours as yet another example of media sensationalism.
