‘Boli’, ‘Priyo Maloti’, ‘Rickshaw Girl’, ‘Fatima’ to headline Amar Bhasar Chalachchitra 1431

The much-anticipated annual film festival, Amar Bhasar Chalachchitra 1431, organised by the Dhaka University Film Society, is set to begin tomorrow. This year marks the 23rd edition of the festival, and its striking poster blends the vibrant colours of the spring flowers with the revolutionary crimson hues, symbolising a blend of spring and resistance.

 

The list of selected films was announced last Wednesday for screening, and it features some of the most critically acclaimed recent releases. These include Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's "Boli", Shankha Dasgupta's "Priyo Maloti", Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's "Rickshaw Girl", Akram Khan's "Nokshi Kanthar Zamin", Nurul Alam Atique's "Peyarar Subash", Gias Uddin Selim's "Kajol Rekha", Dhrubo Hasan's "Fatima", Mishuk Monir's "Deyaler Desh", and Raihan Rafi's "Toofan".

The festival will also screen some timeless classics, including Ritwik Ghatak's "Subarnarekha", Subhash Dutta's "Arunodoyer Agnisakhhi", Dewan Nazrul's "Dost Dushman", Amjad Hossain's "Bhat De", Chashi Nazrul Islam's "Devdas", Kazi Hayat's "Ammajaan", Abu Sayeed's "Kittonkhola", Salauddin Lavlu's "Mollabari'r Bou", Abdul Ahad Tanvir's "Batasher Fena", and Abdullah Mohammad Saad's "Live from Dhaka".

Amar Bhasar Chalachchitra 1431 will continue until February 19, with all screenings taking place at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University. Showtimes are scheduled daily at 10:00am, 1:00pm, 3:30pm, and 6:30pm. Tickets are priced at TK 50 per screening, making it an affordable opportunity to catch some of the most powerful films in contemporary and classic Bangladeshi cinema.
