Mir Lokman’s ‘Laal Michhil’ to hit the stage today

Silent in speech but loud in action, mime artiste Mir Lokman continues to make his mark on the streets, protesting injustice with the unspoken language of mime. Lokman, the founder of Dhaka University's Mime Action and the Institute of Mime and Movement has been amplifying unheard voices through his performances with the slogan "Let the unspoken words speak". Today, he is bringing "Laal Michhil" to the stage of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to captivate audiences with his solo act.

Lokman shared with The Daily Star that his 11th full-length solo mime performance, "Laal Michhil", will take place today at 6:30pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
This production will weave together narratives from the Liberation War of Bangladesh to the recent mass uprisings in the country, while also reflecting on global political issues. The performance comprises eight stories, all directed and scripted by Lokman himself.

The lighting, set design, and props have been coordinated by Tanvir Nahid Khan, Fazle Rabbi Sukorno, Mahbub Alam, and Shahriar Shawan.
The show will host prominent guests, including the interim government's Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, as the chief guest.
Mir Lokman has performed in around 800 stage and street productions across Bangladesh, Armenia, Morocco, South Korea, Japan, and India, showcasing his dedication to the art of silent storytelling.
