Farooki is fine as an adviser, at least he’s not being childish: Prince Mahmud

After just five and a half months, Syed Jamil Ahmed has stepped down from his position as the Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Since this announcement, the interim government's cultural adviser, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, has been at the centre of discussion, as the former DG has brought upon multiple allegations against him. However, the adviser has publicly stated that much of Syed Jamil Ahmed's accusations come from a place of 'frustration'.

Popular music composer Prince Mahmud has opened up about the issue. On Monday, March 3, Prince Mahmud wrote on Facebook, "Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is fine as an adviser. At least he is not being childish. He is sensitive and knows what to say and do in different situations. The situation demands someone like him."
In the comment section of his post, Prince Mahmud further wrote, "Centrism is a perspective or position that accepts or supports a certain degree of social equality and social stratification. It opposes any political change that would result in a significant right-wing or left-wing shift in society."

The artiste community in the country had shown solidarity with the anti-discrimination movement, with some speaking out on the streets and others using social media to support students. Director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki was also an important part of this group.
Prince Mahmud was just as vocal in the movement. He is often seen speaking up about the country's overall situation.
