Iconic actor, filmmaker, and musician, Anjan Dutt, is returning to where it all began—the theatre. After over four decades in cinema, the "Dutta Vs Dutta" star has announced his final stage appearance. His last play, "Aro Ekta Lear", premiered to praise, and is set to return on March 9 again at Kolkata's Gyan Manch. Advance tickets are already available for those eager to witness this final performance.

Dutt has been actively promoting the play, sharing behind-the-scenes moments and personal insights. In a recent Facebook post, he provided a rare glimpse into his thoughts on acting and the rigorous discipline that comes with it. Alongside a still from the play, he offered a reflective commentary on the deeper aspects of his craft.

"Mental discipline and self-awareness are key to acting on stage," Dutt wrote. "You must be fully aware of your strengths, skills, and limitations. Why? Because all the tools you need to act are already within you—your mind and body. People often think acting is just about memorising lines, but it's far more intricate. Without understanding your tools and techniques, it's easy to slip into overacting."

"Once you lose control, you run the risk of being swept away by your emotions. A real actor knows how to manage their emotions—express them naturally and believably. Acting is an art of restraint, where emotions need to be measured, not thrown around carelessly."

Dutt didn't shy away from critiquing the modern acting scene either. "Nowadays, many people are just pretending to act on stage. They think they're actors, but in reality, they're 'ham' actors, relying on exaggeration. True actors are disciplined. They have complete control over their skills and craft. You can't rely solely on theoretical knowledge or spontaneity."

He emphasised the complexity of the craft, writing, "Being an actor means being both unpredictable and insightful. Mentally, you have to mature faster because you need to stay ahead of your time. A true actor may appear ordinary, but inside, there's a remarkable personality burning brightly."

The veteran actor also touched on the profound challenges of the craft, saying, "Acting isn't easy—it's a path filled with pain. In today's world, full of pretenders and deception, an actor's skill must be genuine. You can't just pretend to be Hamlet or King Lear—you have to truly understand the character, feel their depth, their pain. Acting is a painful journey, and only a real actor can absorb that pain and move forward."
