‘Magical Night 2.0’ resumes after security breach at Army Stadium
The much-anticipated concert "Magical Night 2.0", featuring headliner Atif Aslam, faced an unexpected disruption at the Bangladesh Army Stadium this evening when a group of individuals broke through the main gate and entered the general segment of the venue after local band Kaaktaal's performance.
Army officials promptly intervened to bring the situation under control. Following a brief halt, the event resumed at 6:10pm with a performance by Apeiruss, featuring the DJ duo consisting of Sheikh Saami Mahmud & Sheikh Shafi Mahmud.
The concert, organised by Triple Time Communication, features an impressive lineup of Bangladeshi and Pakistani artistes, including Pakistani superstar Atif Aslam and rising artiste Abdul Hannan, alongside Bangladesh's Tahsan Khan, Kaaktaal, and the local qawwali band Kashida.
The event had already been under scrutiny due to a significant data breach earlier this month. On October 23, it was revealed that the ticketing platform Ticket Tomorrow had exposed the sensitive personal data of over 5,000 attendees, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and ticket details. The breach, discovered by a developer, exposed vulnerabilities in the platform's security.
The Daily Star verified the data leak, which was reportedly stored in an unprotected public Google Drive link. While the exact contents were withheld for privacy reasons, the incident sparked outrage among fans and prompted action from law enforcement.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested 30-year-old Arif Arman, allegedly linked to the cyberattack, and assured that steps are being taken to prevent further breaches.
Despite these challenges, "Magical Night 2.0" opened its gates at 1pm today. Tickets for the event were sold out weeks in advance, with categories priced at Tk 10,000 for the "Magical Zone," Tk 4,500 for the "Front Zone," and Tk 2,500 for the "General" section.
This marks Atif Aslam's fourth visit to Dhaka, following previous performances in 2013, 2016, and April 2024.
