Iron Maiden, the legendary heavy metal band, has unveiled plans for a 50th anniversary book and documentary, both set to debut in Fall 2025. This announcement comes as the group gears up for their milestone tour, which will commence in Hungary this May.

This tour will mark Iron Maiden's first live performance with drummer Simon Dawson, a longtime collaborator of bassist Steve Harris in British Lion. Dawson steps in following the retirement of veteran drummer Nicko McBrain.

The documentary, while still untitled, promises an in-depth look at the band's journey, featuring interviews with current and former members. It will also include the final recorded interview with the late Paul Di'Anno, as well as insights from notable figures such as Metallica's Lars Ulrich, KISS' Gene Simmons, and actor Javier Bardem.

Produced by Universal Pictures Content Group, the film is set for a global theatrical release, though details regarding a US cinema debut are yet to be confirmed. The documentary aims to capture the band's five-decade legacy not only through firsthand accounts from its members but also through the voices of devoted fans who have supported them over the years.

Helen Parker, executive vice president of Universal Pictures Content Group and executive producer of the documentary, expressed her enthusiasm for the project. "Iron Maiden has placed their trust in us to bring their incredible story to the big screen. Collaborating with the band and their dedicated fanbase has been an unparalleled experience, allowing us to highlight their fearless creativity as they celebrate this major milestone," she said.

Rod Smallwood, Iron Maiden's longtime manager, echoed this sentiment. "We are proud to partner with Universal Pictures Content Group to share Iron Maiden's remarkable journey with the world. The band has granted them full access to their story, their fans, and their peers in the music industry. We believe this documentary will resonate not just with rock fans, but with anyone inspired by the story of an underdog rising to become one of Britain's most successful musical exports."

With both the book and film set to offer a deep dive into Iron Maiden's storied career, fans can expect a comprehensive celebration of one of heavy metal's most influential bands as they mark half a century of music and legacy.
