BTS' Jungkook makes largest donation to South Korea's wildfire relief efforts

The catastrophic wildfires in South Korea have been a major news focus. According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, 27 fatalities have been confirmed, with the toll likely to increase.
In response, numerous celebrities are offering their support. BTS members Jeon Jungkook, Kim Namjoon (RM), J-Hope, and Min Yoongi (Suga) have reportedly donated to aid the victims.
The Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association revealed that Jungkook has contributed 1 billion KRW ($680,000) to assist with relief efforts in the wildfire-hit Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam regions. His donation stands as the largest known contribution from a public figure since the disaster began earlier this week.
As reported by AllKpop, Jungkook's donation will be divided into two portions—500 million KRW will be allocated to an emergency relief fund to aid those who have lost their homes, while the remaining 500 million KRW will be used to support firefighters working to contain the wildfire.
Jungkook expressed his hope that his donation would provide relief to those facing hardships, stating, "I hope my contribution helps those in need. I also wish for the victims and firefighters to return to their normal lives soon," in a press statement issued by Hybe.
Meanwhile, RM and J-Hope each contributed 100 million KRW to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association.
As quoted by Indian Express, RM stated, "I chose to make this donation in the hope that it will aid in recovering from the wildfire damage. I am grateful to those working tirelessly to put out the fires and support the displaced victims, and I sincerely hope they can return to their everyday lives soon."
Meanwhile, Suga previously contributed to the Korean Red Cross, marking his first public gesture since his 2024 DUI scandal. The incident led to widespread criticism, compelling him to issue a public apology on national television and pay a substantial fine.
Due to a previous shoulder injury, Suga is currently fulfilling his military service in the public sector rather than in active duty. Despite this, his donation demonstrates his commitment to making a positive difference and helping those in need.
Several other Korean celebrities have also contributed to wildfire relief efforts, including G-Dragon, Cha Eun Woo, singer Kim Tae Woo, actor Park Han Byul, rapper DinDin, NCT's Jaemin, and SHINee's Key.
