Adila Noor: The Bangladeshi singer working with popular Indian and Bangladeshi labels

Adila Noor was always passionate about music as a child, and she knew she would put her heart and soul into it. Her guruji, Ustad Paresh Roy, noticed her prowess for Nazrul sangeet very early on. Now she has released original songs through Saregama Bengali, G-series, and Hindustan Records. She has also worked with other popular Bangladeshi labels as well. 

Her sweet and harmonious voice pierces one's heart, transporting one into transcendental serenity. The Melbourne-based artiste moved to Australia for a better life and opportunities, but her heart has forever lingered on Nazrul Geeti.

The singer has returned to Bangladesh and will perform tomorrow at the Bengal Foundation's "Praner Khela". It is a two-day celebration of the rainy season, and she has prepared a set of eight songs to sing for the audience tomorrow.

"Bengal Foundation has been instrumental in my artistic growth. I sent them my song 'Sedin chhilo ki godhuli lagan' from Australia, and they astonished me by publishing it under their banner. They recently produced a list of 'Best releases in 2022 - songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam', in which my song was placed third. When I informed them that I would be coming to Bangladesh, they let me participate in their two-day long programme, where I will be singing the beautiful melodies of Nazrul Geeti," said the singer.

The singer is set to mesmerise listeners with Raag-prodhan Raag, Loko Shyama Sangeet, and Kirton, among other songs. Her set will include noted songs including "Abar Bhalobasar" and "Tomar Bina tarer Geeti". 

They say that one's guruji helps shape their musical goals. This became true for Adila as she found her goal through the hands of Ustad Paresh Roy, who is currently living in Kolkata right now.

"After my guruji told me that my voice is suitable for Nazrul Geeti, I began focusing on raag prodhan. I began practicing raag and shastriya sangeet before studying Nazrul sangeet. I'm not sure why, but I saw a resemblance between shastriya sangeet and Nazrul Geeti. Nazrul Geeti contains taan, and raag can be deeply portrayed through those songs, in my opinion. These are the things that drew me to this genre," added the singer.

Adila Noor also got additional training from renowned singer Nilufer Yasmin, for 2-3 years which helped her to hone her skills effectively.

Even while staying in Melbourne, she always made sure that she was receiving training from her guruji.

"I had my first solo concert at Melbourne in 2018, where I had to perform 26 songs in front of a large audience. This meant so much to me as I was literally blown away by the love and support by the Bangladeshi audiences living there," stated Adila.

When asked what made her release her original songs from Indian labels. The singer expressed that she wants to reach a broader audience through this initiative.

"Last few years I have been focusing on creating my original songs and so far have released 11 original songs which have been released through Saregama Bengali, G- Series and Hindusthan Records. The reason for releasing through these labels has been to reach broader audiences amongst all Bengalis," concluded the artiste.
