14th Sanjeeb Festival: Young artistes honour Sanjeeb Chowdhury

Late singer Sanjeeb Chowdhury's birthday falls on December 25, and every year young music enthusiasts organise the Sanjeeb Festival in his memory. Continuing this tradition, the 14th Sanjeeb Festival will be held today at 5pm at Sanjeeb Chattar, located on the premises of the TSC at the University of Dhaka.

The festival, organised by Aajob Karkhana, aims to introduce Sanjeeb Chowdhury's timeless creations to the younger generation. Over the years, it has become a unique gathering for music lovers across the country. 

Performers at this year's event included Joy Shahriar, Khayam Sanu Sandhi, Sovvota, Sahos Mostafiz, among others. The programme was overseen by the Sanjeeb Festival Celebration Committee, with support from the University of Dhaka Cultural Society and the University of Dhaka Band Society.

Organiser and singer Joy Shahriar said, "We grew up listening to Sanjeeb da's songs. His music was not just entertainment; Sanjeeb da had a philosophy. Those of us who carry that philosophy as singer-songwriters have come together for this collective initiative, so that Sanjeeb da's songs and philosophy can be passed on to the next generation."

Sanjeeb Chowdhury was simultaneously an artist, writer, and journalist. Along with Bappa Majumder, he formed the band Dalchhut. A student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka, he pursued music and literature alongside his media career.

Sanjeeb Chowdhury's name is associated with many popular songs, including "Ami Tomakei Bole Debo", "Rongila", "Somudro Shontan", and "Bioscope". He passed away on November 19, 2007, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
