HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ officially ends with Season 3 finale

After seven years, three seasons and 26 episodes, HBO’s acclaimed drama series “Euphoria” has officially come to an end.

The announcement was made by series creator Sam Levinson during an appearance on “Popcast”, the music podcast of The New York Times. HBO later confirmed the news to entertainment outlet Variety.

As a result, the Season 3 finale, titled “In God We Trust”, now serves as the official series finale of “Euphoria”.

The decision is unlikely to surprise fans. Series star Zendaya had previously suggested in interviews that she believed the show would conclude with its third season.

The future of the drama had remained uncertain for years, particularly following the lengthy four-year gap between Seasons 2 and 3. During that period, many of the show’s cast members rose to international fame and took on increasingly busy film schedules, contributing to production delays.

In an earlier interview with The New York Times, Levinson hinted at the possibility that Season 3 could be the end of the story.

“I write every season like it’s the last,” he said when asked about a potential fourth season.

First premiering in 2019, “Euphoria” followed a group of high school students navigating issues such as addiction, relationships, identity, trauma, social media and friendship. The third season introduced a time jump and explored themes of faith, redemption and morality.

Alongside Zendaya, the ensemble cast featured Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace and Colman Domingo.

Levinson served as creator and executive producer alongside a team that included Drake, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan and several others.

With HBO drawing the curtain on the series, “Euphoria” leaves behind a legacy as one of the network’s most talked-about dramas of the past decade.
