Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday" at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and drawing an enthusiastic response from attendees.

The film marks the return of Robert Downey Jr to the MCU—this time as the villain Doctor Doom, rather than Iron Man. The trailer introduces his masked character as a looming threat, setting up a major confrontation with Earth’s mightiest heroes.

Also taking the stage at the event was Chris Evans, who reprises his role as Steve Rogers. The footage hints at his dramatic comeback, including a moment where he wields Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir, in a pivotal scene.

Directed by Russo Brothers, the film brings together a wide ensemble cast, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, alongside appearances from Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright and others.

The trailer highlights a high-stakes battle led by Thor against Doctor Doom, who appears to overpower him with ease, reinforcing the scale of the new threat. The narrative also touches on the legacy of fallen Avengers, with characters emphasising unity in the face of danger.

According to reports, the CinemaCon audience responded with loud applause, prompting organisers to replay the trailer during the presentation.

Speaking at the event, Downey Jr said returning to the franchise in a new role was unexpected but exciting. Evans added that he chose to return only because the story offered a meaningful reason for his character’s involvement.

"Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled for release on December 18, the same day as “Dune 3”, setting up a potential box office clash between two major franchises.
