CinemaScope, a film apprenticeship programme of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), has announced a national film incubation initiative titled “Film for Change 2026”, in collaboration with Oxfam in Bangladesh.

According to a press release, the programme aims to empower young filmmakers across the country to address pressing social issues—including social justice, climate resilience, and economic inequality—through cinema.

Under the initiative, ten selected teams will receive film production grants of up to Tk 1 lakh each, along with mentorship and technical support. The programme invites aspiring filmmakers to submit original film concepts that explore the human impact of development challenges. Selected participants will work closely with experienced industry professionals and academics to develop their projects, with a strong emphasis on ethical, impact-driven storytelling.

Proposal submissions will remain open until February 12. Detailed rules and regulations are available on the official Facebook pages of Film for Change and CinemaScope.

The initiative is open to students currently enrolled in any academic institution in Bangladesh. Applicants must apply in teams of three, comprising a director, a scriptwriter, and an editor.
Through this collaboration between academia and civil society, “Film for Change 2026” seeks to nurture a new generation of socially conscious filmmakers and encourage meaningful public dialogue through film.
