Woman raped in Jashore

A housewife was allegedly raped by a neighbour in Monirampur upazila of Jashore on Saturday night.

The incident took place in the upazila's Hiatpur village, reports our Benapole correspondent, quoting police.

The housewife was alone at her residence when the accused, Habibur Rahman, 30, and one of his associates forcibly took her to a nearby bamboo garden. Habibur then raped her while his associate stood guard, said Shikdar Motiar Rahman, inspector (investigation) of Monirampur Police Station.

Hearing the screams of the woman, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her, the police inspector said.

The woman has been sent to Jashore General Hospital for medical tests and a case is being filed in this connection, he added.
