The High Court in the ruling also asked the authorities concerned to explain why they should not be ordered to make an arrangement for building awareness and preventive measures all over the country.

The HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan came up with the ruling after hearing a writ petition filed by a Supreme Court lawyer.

The writ petition was filed with the High Court on July 4 seeking its directives on the government to take necessary steps to control Chikungunya in Dhaka and other affected areas of the country.
