Pro-AL candidates bag SCBA polls

Awami League-backed panel Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad won eight posts including president among 14 posts in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election.

Meanwhile, BNP-Jamaat-backed lawyers' body Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad bagged six posts including secretary.

AL Presidium Member Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun was elected as president and BNP Joint Secretary General Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon was elected as secretary.

The other elected candidates are: Md Taherul Islam (vice president), Fahima Nasrin Munni (vice president), Md Ramzan Ali Sikder (treasurer), AKM Rabiul Hasan Suman (assistant secretary), Sheikh Sirajul Islam Siraj (assistant secretary) and, Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz, MD Abdul Aziz Mia Mintu, Nashreen Siddiqua Nina, Md Kamal Hossain, Md Nasiruddin Khan Samrat, Nasiruddin Ahmed Ashin and Rezaul Karim Reza (executive members).

The two-day annual election to SCBA ended yesterday peacefully where some 3,921 lawyers out of 5,036 cast their votes.
