Cleaner dies inhaling toxic gas in Hazaribagh

A cleaner died after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a sewerage line in Hazaribagh area of Dhaka this afternoon.

The deceased Abul Hossain, 55, felt sick after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning the sewerage line and failed to climb up, Ataur Rahman, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told The Daily Star.

On information, a unit of firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued Abul around 5:00pm, the fire official said.

He was taken to Sikdar Womens' Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he added.
