Abrar murder case to be moved to Speedy Trial Tribunal

The government has decided to transfer Buet student Abrar Fahad murder case from Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's court to the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka to finish trial proceedings quickly.
The decision was taken under Section 6 of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002 following a request made by Abrar's family for quick trial of the murder case.
Abrar's family met the law minister and requested him to transfer the case to a Speedy Trial Tribunal, a law ministry official told The Daily Star today.
After the decision, Law Minister Anisul Huq today approved the relevant file regarding the transfer of the case.
Abrar, a second-year student at electrical and electronic engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), was beaten to death at Sher-e-Bangla Hall on October 7 last year.
