4 farmers killed in lightning strikes
Four farmers were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Kishoreganj and Manikganj today.
In Kishoreganj, three farmers were killed in separate lightning strikes in Pakundia and Itna upazilas of Kishoreganj this afternoon, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting police.
The deceased were identified as Shahid Mia, 42, son of Fazlul Huq of Boratia village in Pakundia upazila, Muzaffar Ali, 65, son of Mosharrof Ali of Mrigga village in Itna upazila and Robiul Awal, 48, a resident of Raytuti area of the same upazila.
Farmer Shahid Mia and Chand Mia were struck by lightning on the way while they were coming from cropland in Pakundia this afternoon, said Md Elias, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pakundia Police Station.
Shahid dead on the spot and seriously injured Chand Mia was sent to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital, he said.
Muzaffar Ali and Robiul Awal were killed while they were returning home from paddy field as a thunderbolt hit them in Itna this evening, said Itna Police Station OC Murshed Zaman.
In Manikganj, a farmer died in lightning strike at Shimulia village in Shibalaya upazila round 10:00 am.
The victim was identified as Piar Ali, 35, son of Dahir Uddin of the Shimulia village, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting locals and relatives.
