3 ‘criminals’ killed in Dhaka, Khulna, Jhenidah ‘gunfights’
Three alleged criminals were killed in separate incidents of "gunfights" with the law enforcers in Dhaka, Khulna and Jhenidah early today.
In Dhaka, the "gunfight" took place between a group of seven to eight drug peddlers and Rab members at Postogola of Kadamtoli area around 4:15am.
Delwar Hossain Liton alias Kutta Liton was found lying on the spot after the gunfight, said Jahangir Hossain Matubbar, commanding officer of Rab-10.
The elite force members rushed him to the Midford Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, CO Jahangir added.
Delwar, a drug trader, was of the capital's Jatrabari area. He was accused of several cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
Three Rab personnel received injuries during the incident, the Rab official added.
The law enforcers recovered a revolver, a magazine, yaba tablets and two mobile phones.
In Jhenidah, a gang of robbers were planning to carry out robbery at Falsi Bot Tola area in Harinakunda upazila. Sensing presence of a patrol team of Rab members, they opened fire triggering a gunfight between them, said Monir Ahmed, commanding officer of Rab-6.
At one stage, Shahidul Islam Pancha, 42, of Pardakhalpur village received bullet and died on the spot, the Rab official said.
Two of the Rab personnel were also injured during the gunfight that took place around 3:00am, reports our local correspondent quoting the official.
In Khulna, Anarul Sana, an alleged robber, was killed in Sundarbans area of Koyra upazila in another "gunfight" incident with police early today.
He was accused of 10 cases including robbery, said police.
Sheikh Shamsher Ali, officer-in-charge of Koyra Police Station said, Anarul was arrested from Koyra Bazar area around 2:35 pm yesterday when he came to collect some food for his accomplices.
After his arrest, police on his primary information went on an operation to recover arms at southern bank of Kharkharia river in the Sundarbans, OC Shamsur said.
As soon as police reached there, Anarul's cohorts opened fire triggering the gunfight that left Anarul and three lawmen injured.
Anarul was taken to Koyra Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead, said the OC.
The injured police personnel were undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police recovered one local gun, four sharp weapons from the spot.
