2 workers killed in Ctg ship breaking yard

Two workers were killed and three others injured after a cable attached to a ship collapsed on them at a ship breaking yard at Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram this evening.

The deceased were identified as Aminul Islam, 35, and Tushar Chakma, 27, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting police and workers.

Shamim Sheikh, inspector (investigation) of Sitakunda Police Station, said the ship cable fell on some workers while they were working at Ziri Subedar ship breaking yard at Fulthola.

Aminul and Tushar died on the spot and three other workers including Faruk Hossain and Jaty Chakma sustained injures in the incident, said the police official.

The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, he added.
