Mamata in city
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Dhaka this evening, hours before the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Bangladesh.
An Air India flight carrying the chief minister and her entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal Airport at 8:28pm, said an official at the airport immigration.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam received Mamata at the airport.
Earlier on May 28, Partha Chatterjee, education and parliamentary affairs minister of West Bengal, said Mamata would accompany Modi on his Dhaka trip.
However, Mamata Banerjee later announced that she would visit Bangladesh on June 5 and return home the next day after signing the Land Boundary Agreement.
