Miladunnabi today
The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (SM), marking the anniversary of birth and demise of Prophet Muhammad (SM), is being observed in the country today with due religious solemnity.
On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.
The day is a public holiday.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate statements greeting the countrymen and Muslims across the globe on this occasion and seeking eternal blessings for the people's welfare.
Like previous years, different social, cultural, religious and political organisations and state-run organisations, including the Islamic Foundation, have drawn up elaborate programmes to observe the day.
Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar will broadcast special programmes highlighting the importance of the day. The Shishu Academy will also organise special events for children.
The Islamic Foundation will publish a special supplement marking the day while the national flag will be hoisted on top of government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings and all the armed forces installations across the country.
Various organisations will hold discussions, milad and doa mahfils highlighting the life of the Prophet (SM).
Special diets will be provided to all hospitals, prisons, old homes, and different rehabilitation centres.
Tight security arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful celebration of Eid-e-Miladunnabi (SM).
