Cyclone Bulbul: Air, water way services resumed
The flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram resumed after 15 hours of disruption due to bad weather triggered by cyclone storm Bulbul.
The flight operations at the airport resumed around 7:15am, Touhidul Islam, director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport told The Daily Star. All flights to and from Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Barisal and Jashore were cancelled owing to the inclement weather yesterday afternoon.
Besides, operations at Chattogram Land Port resumed around 10:00am after the danger signal level hoisted for the cyclone storm was lowered to number three from the great danger no. 10.
Meanwhile, the ferry services on Paturia-Daulatia river route resumed on Sunday morning after 12 hours of disruption due to bad weather triggered by cyclone ‘Bulbul’.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC)’s Aricha sector additional general manager Zillur Rahman said the authority resumed the ferry services from 10:00am.
Earlier around 10:00pm yeasterday, the authority suspended ferry services following stormy weather to avoid unwanted incidents, the official added. Due to heavy currents and gusty wind, the authorities yesterday suspended ferry operations on the Paturia-Daulatdia route on the Padma.
