Body of 'yaba peddler' recovered in Chuadanga
Police today recovered the bullet-hit body of an alleged yaba trader in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, whose family members alleged that he was picked by law enforcers on plainclothes on Tuesday evening.
Hridoy Hossain, 28, of Chuadanga district town, was "picked up" by police on plainclothes from Shantipara area in the upazila on Tuesday evening, Bachchu Mia, father of the deceased, told reporters at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital this noon.
“Many people witnessed that four plainclothes police caught Hridoy while he was sitting at a tea stall owned by one Intaz at about 7:30pm on Tuesday,” Bachchu claimed adding that “since then they could not trace Hridoy out.”
However, police claimed Hridoy might have been killed due to internal conflicts among rival drug traders.
On information, police recovered the body from a roadside ditch near Darshana rail crossing around 11:30am, said Sukumar Biswas, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station.
According to Damurhuda Police Station record, Hridoy was a listed yaba trader in the district and accused in 14 cases including drugs and mugging.
