Law Minister Anisul Huq today said that the government is taking preparation for seeking review of the Supreme Court judgment that upheld the High Court verdict scrapping the 16th amendment to the constitution.

“The government has applied to the SC seeking the certified copy of its judgment on the 16th amendment and the apex court judgment is being examined,” he told reporters following a food distribution programme at Tejgaon in Dhaka marking the National Mourning Day.

“We respect the SC judgment, although we do not agree with its observation,” the minister said.

Responding to a query from reporters, Anisul said, “Expressing reaction about the irrelevant, unnecessary and objectionable observation of the SC is very usual until it is contempt of court.”
