AL man stabbed dead in Rangpur

A group of unknown miscreant stabbed an Awami League (AL) activist to death in Pirgachha upazila of Rangpur early today.

The deceased was identified as Rasel Mian, 32, son of late Nazrul Amin of Monirumpur village and an activist of Kandi union unit of AL in Pirgachha.

According to locals, an unknown group of people called Rasel out of his home around 3:00am.

“Later, villagers found the body in a crop field of the village and informed police,” reports our correspondent quoting Md Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pirgachha Police Station.

“The attackers chopped him indiscriminately with sharp weapons,” the OC said adding that it was recovered at 8:00am.

“Rasel might have been killed over some family dispute,” the OC added.

The body was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.

Two people were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder.
