4 killed, 24 injured in Jamalpur, Sirajganj road crashes
Four people were killed and 24 others injured in separate road accidents in Jamalpur and Sirajganj districts.
In Jamalpur, three day-labourers were killed and three others injured when a truck plunged into a ditch on Bhuapur-Sarishabari road in Sarishabari upazila early today.
Those killed were identified as Nasir, 50, son of Firoz Sheikh of Patierpara vilalge, Abdul Bari, 50, son of Abdul Gafur and Riazuddin, 45, son of Omar Sardar of Sanchierpara village in the upazila, UNB reports.
Zouhar Hossain, inspector of Tarakandi police camp, said the accident took place around 3:30 am when the Sarishabari-bound goods-laden truck from Dhaka went down as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the three dead on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the truck but could not arrest its driver as he fled the scene after the incident.
In Sirajganj, A man was killed and 21 others were injured as a bus drove into a roadside ditch on Sirajganj- Belkuchi road at Shamespur area in Belkuchi upazila on Thursday night, according to UNB.
The identity of the deceased could not be known yet.
Abdul Hamid, assistant director of Sirajganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the bus plunged into the ditch after being hit by oil-laden lorry around 4:45pm, leaving 22 people injured while nine passengers of the bus severely wounded.
Later, the injured were taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital where the unidentified man succumbed to his injury at night.
