A writ petition was filed with the High Court today seeking its order on the government to cancel the multiple choice question (MCQ) examination of 39th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) for “seven mistakes in its question paper”.

Twenty-two candidates, who failed in the MCQ test of the 39th BCS (special) held on August 3 this year, collectively submitted the petition also praying to the HC to stay the process of its viva voce to be held from October 10 to October 26.

Petitioners’ counsel Advocate Md Eunus Ali Akond told The Daily Star that there are at least seven mistakes in the question paper of MCQ test of the 39th BCS.

The lawyer said as per the relevant rules, only one correct answer among all the four answer choices for a single question has to be mentioned in the question paper.

Citing from the writ petition, Advocate Eunus also said doctors having MBBS degrees were supposed to be recruited through the 39th BCS, but some non-MBBS were allowed to appear for the MCQ test and qualified.

He said the HC might hold hearing on the writ petition on October 7.
