3 Rohingya youths held with 20,000 yaba in Teknaf
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested three Rohingya youths along with 20,925 pieces of yaba from Naf river in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.
They were identified as Mohammad Abdul, 20, Foisal, 20, and Mohammad Ali, 20, hailing from Maungdaw of Rakhine state in Myanmar, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting BGB-2 Commanding Officer Lt Col SM Ariful Islam.
Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB-2 launched a drive in the river in Baraitala area near Teknaf upazila headquarters and chased the Rohingya people who were trying to enter Bangladesh with the consignment of the contraband pill, the BGB official said.
At one stage, the BGB team arrested them and recovered 20,925 yaba pills worth Tk 65 lakh from their possessions, he added.
On September 27, a team of the Rab-7 arrested four people, including three Rohingya people, along with some eight lakh yaba tablets from Shah Parir Dwip in Teknaf upazila.
