2 ‘robbers’ killed in Noakhali ‘gunfight’

Two suspected robbers were killed in what law enforcers said a “gunfight” with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Hatia upazila of Noakhali early today.

The deceased were identified as Saiful, ringleader of the notorious robber gang ‘Saiful Bahini’ and Safiul Mollah, Jasim Uddin, commander of Rab-11, said. 

On secret information, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Sutlar Ghat area around 4:00am, the Rab official added.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the gang members opened fire on them, retaliated them to fire back, triggering a gunfight that left two robbers dead on the spot, he said.

Several Rab members were also injured in the gunfight.

They also recovered firearms from the spot.
