15km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway
A 15-kilometre long tailback was created on Dhaka-Tangail highway due to slow vehicular movement caused by potholes in Elenga area of Tangail since Friday midnight.
Tariqul Islam, a sub-inspector at Elenga Highway Police Station, said potholes were created as construction works have been going on the highway at Elenga in Kalihati upazila, making the journey difficult mainly for north-bound passengers.
As a result of slow vehicular movement, hundreds of vehicles remained stuck on the highway around a 15-kilometre stretch from Elenga to Korotia in Tangail, causing sufferings to passengers amid cold weather.
However, traffic police were trying to ease the congestion, the SI added.
