Suspended DIG Mizan, ACC director Basir indicted in bribery case
A Dhaka court today framed charges against Mizanur Rahman, suspended deputy inspector general of police, and Khandaker Enamul Basir, suspended director of the Anti-Corruption Commission, in a bribery case.
Mizan and Basir, now in jail, claimed themselves innocent and demanded justice after Judge Shaikh Nazmul Alam of Special Judge Court-4 read out the charges to them.
The court fixed every Monday from March 23 for recording statements of the witnesses.
On July 16 last year, ACC filed the graft case against them for a transaction of Tk 40 lakh as bribe.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Senior Special Judge's Court in Dhaka, on February 9, took cognisance of charges against the duo in the case.
