Pro-Al lawyers threaten to boycott CJ’s programme
Pro-Awami League lawyers today threatened to boycott the functions where the chief justice will attend as the CJ has not expunged “irrelevant” observations from the 16th amendment verdict.
“We must boycott, reject and leave all the programmes where Justice SK Sinha will attend. No lawyers will go to his [CJ] programmes,” said Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.
Taposh, member Secretary of Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad (BAAP), was addressing a programme at the Supreme Court Bar Association’s south hall. The programme was organised to press home their demand to expunge the “irrelevant” observations from the SC verdict.
Barrister Taposh said they will conduct their movement against those who have “scandalised the judiciary” and are “hatching conspiracy” to make conflict with the executive and judiciary.
Meanwhile, pro-BNP lawyers held a meeting at the SCBA’s north hall demanding resignation and arrest of Law Commission Chairman Justice ABM Khairul Haque for “breaching code of conduct” by holding a press conference on the SC verdict.
