2 'JMB men' killed in Hazaribagh ‘shootout’: DB

Two alleged banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) militants have been killed in an encounter with law enforcers at Hazaribagh in Dhaka on Wednesday night, detectives say.

Two alleged members of a banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were killed in an encounter with law enforcers at Hazaribagh in Dhaka tonight, detectives said.
Abdullah alias Noman, 35, a national operations commander and Kamal alias Hiran, 30, a Dhaka divisional commander of JMB were killed in the encounter with members of detective branch (DB) of police, Sanwar Hossain, additional deputy commissioner (DB) told The Daily Star.
Tipped off, a group of detectives raided the hideouts of the militants at Kamrangirchar and arrested three militants on Wednesday night around 10:30pm, the DB official said.  
Based on the information by the arrestees, police raided the backside of ZH Sikder Women's Medical College in Hazaribagh around 11:30pm.
Sensing the presence of law enforces, militants hiding in the area threw handmade grenades at the DB personnel from two motor bikes, the DB official added.
The law enforcers retaliated with gun shots which injured the two militants.
Two more militants fled the area in a motor bike.
The injured two persons were then rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 12:45am where duty doctors declared them dead, the official said.
Police recovered two shooter guns from the militants and one motorcycle and splinters of grenades from the spot.
The militants came to Hazaribagh to conduct operations, the ADC suspected.
He claimed militant Kamal alias Hiran is an accused in the police killing case of Baruipara of Ashulia where militants had hacked to death a police constable late last year.
Identities of the alleged three detained militants were not made available when this report was filed around 1:30am.
