Habibullah Bahar Azad, owner of the house in Dhaka’s Darussalam area where seven persons including suspected militants died in a raid during the first week of September, was placed on a three-day remand today in an explosion case filed by Rapid Action Battalion.

Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lutfar Rahman Shishir passed the order after Rab Sub Inspector Amirul Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a petition before it seeking a 10-day remand for him.

Earlier in the day, Habibullah Bahar was shown arrested in response to a petition filed by the Rab official before the court.

In the forwarding report submitted before the court, Amirul said the building owner instructed the militants to blast the bombs during the raid.

Earlier, Hahibullah Bahar said this when he was giving confessional statement before a Dhaka magistrate in a case filed with Savar Police Station, the Rab official said.

So, he needs be remanded to gather more info about the raid, the IO said.

Charred remains of seven people were found inside the house during the raid on September 6 that ended with the recovery of the haul of some powerful bombs, explosives, explosive-making materials and some sharp weapons.

Police said seven persons had died in the house, presumably from a blast, which included two children and two women.
