Graft case: ACC arrests 3 Ctg port officials
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in a drive today arrested three staff of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) for their alleged involvement in misappropriating money.
They are CPA’s assistant vehicle inspector Md Monwar Hossain and its upper division clerks Nurul Islam Chowdhury and Pulak Kanti Das, our Chittagong staff correspondent reports quoting its Deputy Director Lutfur Kabir Chandan.
An ACC team of its Chittagong divisional office, led by its director Md Abu Sayed, arrested them from the port area, he said.
Earlier in the day, the ACC filed a case against them with Halishahar Police Station in the port city for allegedly plundering the government's revenue of over Tk 70 lakh from the Chittagong Port.
The three misappropriated the money creating fake documents and syphoned off 404 metric tons of crude glycerin kept in 14 containers at CPA auction department, the ACC official said.
Not depositing money in government exchequer of the crude glycerin, the accused misappropriated the money, he added.
