Cable TV man hacked dead in Mohakhali

An employee of a cable TV service provider was stabbed to death in Mohakhali area of Dhaka early Tuesday.

The Deceased Shafiqul Islam, 30, a resident of Dakshinpara area of Mohakhali, had been working at ‘Maisha Cables’ for the last five years, Rafiqul Islam, the victim’s elder brother, told The Daily Star.

Shafiqul went out of his residence around 11:30pm to buy chips for his two-year-old daughter when miscreants waylaid him and stabbed him indiscriminately, he said.

Hearing Shafiqul’s scream, locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way around 1:30am, he also said.

His body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, police said.

But the motive behind the murder is yet to be unfolded.
