Apply: Erasmus Mundus Bioceb Master’s Programme
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) Bioceb programme has opened applications for its 2026–2028 intake. Bioceb is a two-year international master's programme in Biological and Chemical Engineering for a Sustainable Bioeconomy, offering in-depth training in biotechnology, bioprocess design, upscaling and biobased product engineering.
The programme forms part of the Erasmus Mundus framework, known for academic excellence and compulsory international mobility. Highly ranked applicants may be awarded Erasmus Mundus scholarships covering participation costs as well as travel, visa, installation and subsistence expenses. The maximum scholarship value is EUR 33,600, calculated at EUR 1,400 per month for up to 24 months.
The Bioceb programme includes compulsory physical mobility for all students, with at least two study periods of 30 ECTS each in two different countries. These countries must be different from the student's country of residence at the time of enrolment. Candidates apply by indicating their preferred study track, though final mobility decisions are made by the Bioceb Consortium due to limited capacity across tracks and partner universities.
Eligibility and selection process
Applications are initially screened by the Bioceb secretariat. Late or incomplete applications are rejected, though candidates may appeal decisions in cases of suspected error.
Minimum admission requirements include:
- A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent of at least 180 ECTS in engineering or science
- A strong academic background in at least one biology-related discipline, such as biotechnology, biochemistry or molecular biology
- Demonstrated English language proficiency at B2 advanced level
Selection is highly competitive, with a maximum cohort size of 25 students. Eligible candidates are assessed through a two-stage selection process. The first stage evaluates academic excellence, experience, motivation and recommendation letters. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to a 20–30 minute online interview focusing on motivation, communication skills and study track choice. Interview participation does not guarantee admission.
Applicants must upload the following documents as part of their application:
- Copy of a valid passport (or national ID for European students only)
- Curriculum Vitae, preferably in Europass format
- Letter of motivation addressed to the Bioceb Consortium
- Copy of Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or equivalent, or proof of final-year enrolment with expected graduation date
- Official English translation of diploma(s), if applicable
- Official academic transcripts for each year of the BSc degree, including grading system explanation
- Two recommendation letters from different referees, submitted directly by the referees via the application platform

- Official documents covering any gaps in education or employment over the past five years, if applicable
