Apply to DEAI: Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Data Engineering and AI
The Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (DEAI) consortium has designed a two-year, 120-ECTS master's programme aimed at preparing students for industry roles and doctoral study. The new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree Programme in DEAI will be supported by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme. The first year focuses on core foundations, with students spending the first semester at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), and the second at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), followed by participation in the European Business Intelligence Summer School. In the third semester, students choose one of three specialisations: Knowledge-Driven Data Management and Intelligence at the Technische Universität Wien (TUW), Business, Economics and Financial Data Science at the Università degli Studi di Padova (UniPD), or Data and Intelligence for Heterogeneous Systems at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL).
The final semester is dedicated to the master's thesis, completed either through an industry placement or a research internship with any partner institution. Taught in English, the programme is open to candidates with a computer science background and B2-level English proficiency. Graduates receive multiple national master's degrees from the participating universities.
Here are the eligibility criteria:
1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS) with a major in computer science from an accredited university.
2. The awarding university must be listed in the World Higher Education Database (WHED) or appear in one of the following rankings:
- Times Higher Education
- Academic Ranking of World Universities
- QS World University Rankings
3. Applicants must provide proof of English proficiency at a level equivalent to B2 under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
4. Accepted forms of certification include internationally recognised tests such as:
- Cambridge General English FCE

- TOEFL: 570 (paper-based), 230 (computer-based), or 72 (internet-based)
5. Candidates should consult the FAQ for further details on degree requirements and accepted English-language documentation.
The grant application window for the programme opened on October 21, 2025, giving candidates several months to prepare and submit their materials. This deadline closes on January 13, 2026, at noon GMT, after which no further applications will be accepted.
