Dhaka stocks slip as DSEX drops 18 points in early trade

Shares on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell in early trading today, erasing the previous session's gains as weak investor confidence kept the market under pressure.

The DSEX, the main gauge of the premier bourse, decreased 18.44 points, or 0.36 percent, to 5,100.96 by 11:46am, according to DSE data.

Sentiment was negative, with the Shariah-compliant DSES and the blue-chip DS30 indices edging lower.

Turnover, a key measure of investor participation, stood at Tk 171 crore at the time.

Market breadth was mostly negative, with 93 issues advancing against 232 declining, while 68 remained unchanged.
