Dhaka stocks extend losses as DSEX dips slightly in early trade

Stocks on the Dhaka bourse opened lower today, extending losses for a second session as the market continued its downturn, as weak investor sentiment persists.

The DSEX, the main gauge of the premier bourse, declined 2.61 points, or 0.05 percent, to 5,086.71 by 11:10am, according to the bourse data.

Sentiment was mixed, with the Shariah-compliant DSES edging lower and the blue-chip DS30 indices rising.

Turnover, a key measure of investor participation, stood at Tk 99 crore at the time.

Market breadth was mostly negative, with 115 issues advancing against 177 declining, while 86 remained unchanged.
