Ctg international trade fair begins tomorrow

Month-long Chattogram International Trade Fair will begin in the port city tomorrow with an aim to promoting and marketing domestic products at home and abroad.

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud is scheduled to inaugurate the fair, to be organised by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) on Railway Pologround.

This will be the 30th edition of the fair as the Chittagong Chamber has been organising the fair since 1993.

Over 300 companies from different countries, including India, Thailand and Iran, will occupy 400 stalls in the fair to showcase their products.

Different established business groups will also take part in the show, CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said at a press conference in the chamber's auditorium on Tuesday.

Small and medium entrepreneurs from different parts of the country would also participate in the fair to display their products, he hoped.

There would be 20 premier pavilions, 56 premier stalls, 94 gold stalls, 48 mega stalls, 11 food stalls in three separate zone, according to Chittagong Chamber officials.

Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Biswa Sahitya Kendro, blood collection group Sandhani and two other social organisations of Chattogram have been provided stalls at free of costs at the fair as part of the chamber's social responsibility, the CCCI president said.

In addition to the previous years' facility, the fair organisers have also added a children recreation centre at a corner of the venue.
